Protected Flight: Information Retrieval and Next Steps Guide

If your booked international flight has been reassigned to a protected flight by the airline due to operational reasons (such as cancellation or schedule change), this guide explains how to verify your flight details and the steps you can take next to efficiently manage your post-booking arrangements.

  1. Core Principle: No Additional Action Required for Low-Cost Carrier (LCC) Protected Flights

For protected flights arranged by Low-Cost Carriers (LCCs), passengers typically do not need to perform any manual confirmation or additional actions.

Simply proceed to the airline’s check-in counter at the airport before the new flight’s departure, using the same travel document (e.g., passport) used during booking.

The airline automatically arranges the protected flight, ensuring your itinerary remains valid even if you do not confirm it manually.

  1. Retrieving Your Protected Flight Information

Airlines generally send detailed information about your protected flight—such as the new flight number, departure and arrival times, and cabin class—to the email address used during ticket issuance. You can access this information using the following methods

  • If you use the Atlas Email Service: Log in to the ATRIP → My Bookings → Booking Detail → Email List to view the airline’s notification email regarding the protected flight.

  • If you do not use the Atlas Email Service: Log in to the email account used for booking and search for an email from the airline’s official domain (e.g., @airline.com). The subject line will typically include keywords such as “Schedule Change” or “Flight Update.”

Note: The airline’s official email serves as the sole source of accurate protected flight information. No further verification through other channels is necessary.

  1. If You Are Unsatisfied with the Protected Flight

If the protected flight arranged by the airline is unsuitable (for example, due to inconvenient timing), you may choose an alternative option provided in the airline’s email. These options generally include:

  • Refund: Some airlines include a self-service refund link in the notification email or specify refund procedures, such as contacting airline customer service or applying through the original booking channel.

  • Rebooking: The airline may list other flight options for rebooking. Follow the instructions provided in the email to choose an alternative flight. In some cases, rebooking may require assistance from airline customer service.

Note: All available options and procedures depend on the official communication you receive from the airline.
